Equine

Our primary aim is to assist you in maintaining the health and well-being of your horses, ensuring their soundness. We offer comprehensive equine care services, including dentistry and expert advice on nutrition.

When it comes to equine health, it's important to remember that each horse is unique. While we provide general guidelines for equine vaccine recommendations, we encourage open discussions with our veterinarians to address any specific questions or concerns you may have.

For standard annual vaccines, we recommend protecting your horse against:

  • Eastern and Western Encephalomyelitis (Sleeping Sickness)

  • West Nile Virus

  • Tetanus

  • Rabies (must be administered by a veterinarian)

Pleasure and performance horses that come into contact with others or are stabled with other horses, attend training facilities, participate in public horse grounds, trail rides, shows, and the like should also consider vaccines for:

  • Eastern and Western Encephalomyelitis (Sleeping Sickness)

  • West Nile Virus

  • Tetanus

  • Influenza

  • Rhinopneumonitis

  • Rabies *must be administered by a veterinarian

  • Strangles *optional – should be considered for horses traveling out of the province or in large groups of young horses.

For yearlings, broodmares, and breeding stallions, we recommend a personalized discussion with a veterinarian to tailor a vaccination protocol to your horse's specific needs.

Lastly, it's essential to note that any horse receiving a vaccine for the first time requires a booster shot 3-6 weeks after the initial shot to ensure full protection, as the booster shot strengthens the immune system's memory.
