About us

Welcome to Beausejour Animal Hospital, your trusted partner in veterinary care for both your beloved pets and valuable farm animals.

Beausejour Animal Hospital opened its doors in 1978 under the guidance of Dr. Marco Lopez. In 2001, ownership passed to Drs. Claus and Karen Leppelmann and the clinic has continued to flourish into the vibrant veterinary hospital it is today.

As the number of patient visits increased, we expanded both in size and ownership – we added more treatment spaces, a large animal facility and over time welcomed Dr. Eric Maguet, Dr. Kurtis Swirsky and Dr. Brittney Derksen to the partnership. We are proud to maintain local, independent ownership as apart of the local small business economy!

In 2019, the clinic underwent extensive renovations to add yet more exam rooms, a dedicated dental suite, enlarged kennel rooms and large animal facilities. The larger footprint has allowed us to expand our team and bring on additional Veterinarians, Registered Veterinary Technologists, Veterinary Assistants and receptionists. Our team now consists of over 50 individuals that are all an integral part of our success each and every day. All our staff live within the surrounding communities, and many are dedicated volunteers that help develop vibrant, thriving local communities. We serve a large geographic area, as one of only a few veterinary hospitals within the central eastern part of the province offering triage and emergency services.

Our large animal veterinarians travel throughout the province daily to consult with our dairy and beef producers, assisting them to maintain healthy and productive herds. These veterinarians provide emergency service 24/7, and are passionate about welfare and large animal medicine.

We are honoured to be able to serve our community through our dedication, excellence, compassion and teamwork.

The Lac Du Bonnet Clinic

Lac du Bonnet veterinary services had its humble beginnings back in the late 1970’s when Dr. Lopez opened a satellite clinic in his garage and would see a patient or 2 in the morning before driving to the

Beausejour office. In 2002, we rented a portion of the Lee Land Realty building and began seeing patients 2 days a week.

As of 2023, we have now renovated the entire building to have multiple exam rooms and are able to provide routine surgical procedures from this location.

While our Lac du Bonnet location is smaller than Beausejour, our dedication is just as big!
